Energy Bar

16 to 24 Bars or Balls

Energy bar that derived from Kim Wilson’s book Everyday Wholesome Eating…In the Raw.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup pitted dates
  • ½ cup soaked walnuts
  • ¾ cup raw almonds
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • ¾ cup shredded coconut unsweetened
  • ¼ cup raisons
  • ¼ cup dried cranberries unsweetened
  • 3 tablespoons Barley green or Green Magma Powder

Preparation

Place almonds into food processor with S blade and grind into a meal texture. Add the rest of the ingredients, and process into a dough type mixture. For bars, press the dough into an 8×8 pan and sprinkle with extra coconut if you would like. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours before cutting into bars. To make energy balls, roll dough into 16 to 24 balls and roll each ball in coconut. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours. Anytime you are experiencing an energy crisis, have a ball or a bar!

I loved them. I try not to make them because I found myself eating them all the time.

I have not used Barley Green or Magma Powder. Are they just a dehydrated green powder? Does it give the energy bar a veggie flavor? I am going to make them just wondering if the ‘green’ powder I have will work.

I don’t taste the green magma powder. It does make the energy bar look green. It is suppose to be good for you. I works great for the non dehydrated bar because the heat may deactivate the barley.

I wonder if Spirulina would be good instead of Barley Green or Magma/

Wow, these are just like some raw bars I purchased in a health food store, only better! Been looking for a recipe for bars like this. Love them!

Spirulina will work just fine. Just be careful not to take too much,- I find spirulina to have quite a strong taste. I’ve gone for 2 teaspoons when I’ve made them.

Hi joesc,

Usually when you take a recipe from someone else’s website it’s customary to give credit where credit is due. The original can be found at: http://www.ezhealthydiet.com/energy-bar-recipe.html

I gave credit to the author of the book. If someone puts it on the website it does not mean that they should get the credit if they did not make the recipe.
