This was an experiment to try to replicate a Southern Indian curry found in 'The New Tastes of India' cookbook, & turned out amazingly well. We'll be making this one again.
I wasn't even trying to make a curry though I LOVE Indian food! I was just at the market thinking up a stuffed tomato salad with perhaps a vague Morrocan theme, and happened to pick up some Indian spices for future use.
I have quite a bit of experience with Indian cooking back in the days... and I don't know why it took me so long to try it raw! (A friend had told me she hadn't had any luck with it... )
So at the last minute I decided to go for the Indian touch instead, thinking either way this recipe wasn't going to turn out very well... and I was surprised how amazing it turned out! Can't wait to try more!!!
Raw Saffron Pistachio Ice Cream
This is a very exotic flavor combination, very difficult to stop eating...
Tikka Masala is an Indian dish usually made with Chicken, as well as some combination of creams and tomato sauce. I realized this old favorite would be an easy dish to re-create raw. It includes several optimizations that can be foregone to save time and effort. The quickest version of this recipe can be made with two cups of coconut milk, no almond milk, and no irish moss. I recommend going all the way if you want to imitate its namesake - it will still be quick and easy.
This tastes fantastic, but I've never had 'real' lassi, so I don't know how close it is.
