Serves 6 – 12 (depending on the size of the tarts)
Raw desserts are particularly enjoyable, as they are a creative and fun alternative to baked desserts. They require no cooking ahead of time, use fresh ingredients such as nuts and fruits, and are sweetened with natural, rather than refined sugars. Raw desserts are gluten, wheat, dairy, soy, and egg free, so they are easy to digest and incredibly delicious. This recipe demonstrates a basic raw and vegan nut crust and a whipped cream filling. Although there are a few steps to this recipe, it is incredibly straightforward, fun, and creative. These tarts combine the refreshing taste of raw food desserts with simple, flavourful ingredients. Serve alone or as an accompaniment to ice cream for a delightful after-dinner dessert. Enjoy!
Banana bread heaven! I made this banana bread just because it's the ingredients I had on hand. The banana was looking VERY ripe so I just had to do something with it. : ) It came out perfectly! I put it into mini bread loaf cups I had, but it would be perfect as banana muffins as well. It's really moist and sweet, with a little crunch because I didn't grind the almonds all the way down. You could definitely add some walnuts, raisins, or whatever else to make it even better! It was super easy to make, maybe took about five minutes to put the ingredients together! Next time I would definitely double, triple, or quadruple the recipe. Lol. I'm sure it will freeze great. I'm also going to try using more oat groats versus almonds. The oat groats I used were sprouted and then dried, but regular oat groats should work just fine.
This recipe is based on one my friend Ali made. Hers was a non-raw version that tasted so good, I knew I could make it just as good raw-style. We got lucky on this one, just replacing a couple of ingredients and marinating the mushrooms instead of cooking them-- it's now one of our favorite things to eat! This was even a hit with our carnivorous family members-- a great crowd-pleaser! The peanut sauce is actually made with almond butter instead of peanuts because peanuts are not technically raw, but it tastes just like the real thing!
This was a lovely mistake. I was attempting to make apple-cinnamon grawnola. I'm so used to making grawnola with dehydrated buckwheat groats (simply adding fruit and syrup to the dry groats then dehydrating), but this recipe called for soaked b.g. and I misread the recipe and didn't realize that the syrup was to be added to the soaked groats- not processed along with it! If the groats would have been dry it would have been fine. So, the outcome was bread/toast. It's the tastiest mistake I've made this year.
**The texture is soft like bread, similar to Ezekiel bread.
