I am not sure at all but thought the onion is full of sulfur that our bodies need… I am sure there is someone on this sight that can give you more and proper information…
I have not heard anything about them being toxic, but I do believe that our bodies crave things for a reason. Since going raw when I’m in the produce selection I walk through slowly sometimes and smell things noting which fruits and veggies my body seems to respond to. Very interesting and it probably says a lot. So far though Onions seems find to me.
Bellasera – I do the same thing in the produce department!
I have seen the onion ring recipe but haven’t tried it because I don’t care much for dehydrated foods. I figured if it’s onions I want, I’ll just eat them as is. I really like onions in a salad with sweet orange juice. And tonight I did a weird thing where I ate a bite of an onion straight, and then took a bite of a date at the same time. I just loved the flavors mingling. It was savory-sweet.
I’ve heard someone say everything is poisonous at one point or another. I don’t know who to believe anymore.
I think the question you should ask yourself is: does it make you sick?
That sounds great, I like onions, watermelon and vinegar..weird I know but the flavors go good.
take from this what you will..don’t shoot the messanger

for me personally, i believe there is a reason they make us cry
MOTH…..i know you are more fruit orientated these days, maybe you are craving savoury due to not getting enough natural sodium….do you eat tomatos and celery ???....just a thought
and MOTH, are you gonna join the 811 – 30 day challenge ????no pressure :o)
Hmmmm interesting take on onions. Oddly though, my family has loved onions for as long as I can remember and have not suffered any ill effects. I suppose we all have different needs and reactions to various foods!
el-bo: it’s so funny you mention the tomatoes and celery because just a few days ago (around the same time as the onion desire hit) I was craving celery, and started eating a tomato on its own, just eating it! I never do that really…so it definitely made sense that there was something in it that I needed. I like celery much better then onions (could munch on it all day) so I’ll pick some up after work this evening.
Oooo…a challenge?! How exciting. This is my fourth day 811-focused…I love the idea of doing this for a month, and possibly even more long-term depending on how I feel. I’m dedicated, haha. :-)
Oh, and the onion didn’t really make me sick…but I’ll go for celery next time.
sweeeet :o)
