the ones with the shells gave me a tummy ache. I do use them for sprouting (not illegal in my country of residence) to make hemp milk.
However, there taste is sharp if you use them to make things! I mean sharp literally. Crunchy in the mouth and sharp in the stomach.
Hulled ones are sooooooo good. Soft, the taste is amazing. Versatile.
BUT expensive!
I buy the Manitoba Harvest brand shelled hemp seeds, I only buy shelled because I live in the States. General rule of thumb is whole foods (unhulled) are better than ones that have had any human influence. I have also experienced a relatively short shelf life with shelled hemp seeds, even when put in the refrigerator, so go whole if they are available. good luck!
K thanks
