I am highly allergic to nuts, so I have to look really carefully (almonds are in small amount ok). I love sunflower and pumpkin seeds. I substitute the nuts, like in crusts. ok, I can’t eat chashew cheese or so. But like for a creamy pie, just use more coconut and blended fruit and some seeds, like mango. be creative! I am not a recipe type – I just look for the ingredients and what would taste good. so you prefer probably also one kind of taste more – so just use more of that.
I agree, I think a lot of recipes are way too nut heavy. I guess it all depends on what you are trying to make. Like Sonne83 suggested, seeds can make good replacements. I used tahini in place of nut butters all the time. For sauces or dips avocados work really well to give some body and creamyness. Try to think of dense foods that you can work into the recipe to replace the “denseness” that the nuts provide.
Is there any specific recipes that you are looking to recreate???
I don’t have a specific ones but I know I’ll most likely have to get creative in order to discover different dishes without nuts.
