This was something I came up with in trying to find a sweet snack that was low fat, quick and easy. After getting it just right, I offered samples to the meat eating men in the house and they all said it tasted just like caramel apples! They were right. It was gone in about 5 minutes. You may have to play with it to get the consistency you want.
1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds
4-5 raw dates
squeeze of lemon juice
1/4 of vanilla bean seeds or 1 tsp vanilla (If you use the bean, let mixture set for a bit to meld flavors.)
And Apples!!
Process seeds in a food processor, then add dates, lemon juice, and vanilla. Mix well until dough like ball forms. I liked it thicker because it was a lot like caramel. Spread mixture onto apple slices and enjoy!
looks DELISH!
thanks
Any type of apple is good with this. I've even enjoyed it on some celery. :P
This looks like it would be an awesome breakfast along with a smoothie. Is red delicious the only type of apple that will work for it?
Thank you!
This goes in my 5 ingredients or less recipe file. We frequently do a "covered dish" lunch at school. I think I'll take this next time, but with apple slices and the caramel sauce as a dip. Yummmmmmmm!
EDIT: You're welcome.
I just made this but I substituted pumpkin seeds for sunflower seeds. YUMMMM! it definitly tastes like caramel apples. I love anything that I can dip my apples into and this is great! Thanks!
Lol! Thats so funny! Its always the obvious things I miss! Like, I misspelled caramel as well! All is fixed, thanks.
Thank you for your offering! Your picture is so cute, they look like little apple pancakes! Adorable. I love that this is simple and does not contain a bunch of ingredients. You are pretty straight to the point with this one. Great!
I have not made it but I am giving you 5 stars! Well earned.
Ps. You left apples out of the ingredient list dear!
XOXO
