Yield
serves 1 or 2
Ingredients
1 large aloe vera leaf
2 bananas
1 cup organic strawberries, frozen
2 oranges, juiced
2 handfuls of spinach, chard, or other organic greens
agave nectar or other sweetener, to taste
Recipe Directions
Put the greens in the blender first, followed by the bananas and orange juice. Blend until the mixture is a uniform bright green. Add the frozen strawberries to the blender. If you do not have them frozen, you can add in some ice as well. Slice one of the prickly edges off of the aloe leaf, open it up like a book, and scrape the insides into the blender. Add your choice of sweetener at your own discretion ;) and blend until the strawberries have been cut up and the smoothie has taken on a frothy consistency. (It’s important to add the aloe at the end because the froth helps to deliver its nutrients and digestive benefits.) Taste, and add more sweetener if necessary. Drink!!! Delicious :) and no icky aloe taste!
You can save the outside of the aloe leaf to use the remaining gel on your face and body, too… it is a really incredible moisturizer that sinks immediately into your skin like absolutely nothing else.
Dorian don't's Thoughts
By dorian don'tThere’s been a lot of talk about fresh Aloe Vera recently, and how it can be difficult to mix just right to get rid of the bitter taste, so I thought I’d share the way I do it. I LOVE this smoothie and feel amazing after drinking it! In-love style amazing. (well… almost!)
