Lower Fat Snack Bar
I love larabars, but don’t like eating all that fat, I’d rather save it for something else! So, I experimented until I came up with something I liked. This can easily be changed up to create different flavors. Of course, you can add nuts if you like. The inspiration came from the delicious Raisin Fudge recipe posted here a few days ago.
3 dried figs
.3 cup raisins
3 dates
3
prunes
1 teaspoon each: maca, lucuma, mesquite
1 tablespoon cocoa
2 pinch cinnamon
pinch salt
1 tablespoon hemp seeds
1. Blend all ingredients, in the food processor until it forms a ball. It will take a few minutes. If it is too dry and looks like fine crumbs add water, a tiny bit at a time. Taste and adjust
seasonings.
2. You can shape them by hand, but it’ll be sticky. I use a mini loaf pan, a muffin tin would make a nice round “bar”. If using a form, grease it with any mild flavored oil.
3. Freeze and then if using the mini loaf pan, remove it and slice it in half to create two bars. Bars
can be stored in the fridge.

I don't see why dried bananas wouldn't work. It might be really sweet, but maybe you could offset that with a little extra salt. I just put the hemp seeds in to cut the sweetness of the fruit and to help with the texture. I might grind them first though. Let me know, because I would love a nut free bar.

WHOA MAN this looks outrageous. Picky me, could I use dried bananas in place of hemp? I'm totally seeds and nut free, thanks daniefon.
Lucuma tastes very sweet, like caramel, maple, and honey together, and mesquite tastes like carob.

I think the fridge would do the job just fine. I started with the raisin fudge recipe and it needs to be frozen, so I just went with that idea. Lucuma has a sort of vanilla flavor and the mesquite has a maple flavor. I imagine they would be fine without them, I was looking for something to kind of dry out the sticky fruit and give it some flavor. You could probably increase the maca, cocoa and the hemp seeds. I might even add a dash of vanilla.

Thank you! I love the sweets (am especially fond of dates) but also don't like to fill them with too much fats/nuts very often.
Do you need to freeze it? I imagine it might set okay just in the fridge.
What are lucuma and mesquite like? I am a big fan of maca..mmm malty :)
Thanks again
