Doritos Cheese

This will turn that bright orange color of Doritos, and it tastes really cheesy. One time I made a full dehydrator’s worth and ate it all in 20 minutes. That’s how good it is.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 2 teaspoons lime juice squeezed fresh from a lime
  • 3 dashes salt
  • 1 cup raw macadamia nuts, soaked 24 hours or more

Preparation

First, puree the red bell pepper in your vita-mix until totally liquified and pureed.Add everthing else, and it should be a thin orange cream. Spoon little blobs on to a teflex sheet, and faltten into little cookies. Dehydrate at 110 degrees for 20 hours. They should be crisp. Dive into cheese! Crumble into yiur favorite salad, or good with sandwiches!

You should! I wouldn’t say it tastes exactly like Doritos, but it looks like them and tastes really cheesy! You’ll eat all that you make, I swear! :)

Ok, they’re in the dehydrator right now and my whole apartment smells like cheese! I can’t wait until they’re done.

Wow, these are very cheesy. I even scored them into triangles just like doritos only there’s no sticky orange mess left behind on my fingers.

I love this recipe! I’ve tried other cheese recipes that used combinations of different nuts but this one is so simple and tastes more like cheese than those others. And it’s so versatile. I think next time I’ll make this and use the paste right out of the blender for nachos instead of dehyrating it! Thanks again :)

I used these in my raw subway hoagie recipe. It tastes quite interesting. That’s a good idea! I’m gonna use it next time for nachos cheese too! :) Your welcome again.

this was really good as cheese and crackers. it’s a total fake out and I don’t think I’ll be having any more real cheese and crackers! dehydrating it was a great idea to get the consistancy. thanks!

Scrumptious recipe! I used raw cashews instead of macadamia nuts. I ate it on a bed of lettuce, avocado, olive, and salsa. It added the perfect nacho cheese flavor to the dish.

I have enjoyed eating this recipe raw, instead of dehydrating it. It’s fantastic when creamy, and can be used on flax bread or pizza crusts.
