sharing raw, vegan recipes and advice
As hinted, we're spending some extra time on Gone Raw this week. I wanted to talk a little bit about the changes.
Most important to us is finishing our work on the new "theme" of the site. The look of Gone Raw right now is a temporary one, but starting later today you'll be seeing our new look. Don't panic! There will be a lot of rough edges at first, but we think it'll grow on ya.
This also means that the website will be down from time to time this week. We will be keeping that to a minimum. But because we're keeping the site up as much as possible, you will be seeing some weirdness this week. You'll probably see the look of the site change a whole lot, and it might be confusing, so I do apologize.
We are also fixing some things, many in response to the excellent feedback we've gotten. We're not going to be able to fix every issue this week, but we'll get to the big ones. I'll try to mention any big changes that take place in comments to this message.
Finally, I want to thank everyone for your continued support. I know it's been tough to use Gone Raw during all the changes, but we're already seeing the rewards of our hard work. The site doesn't go down any more, and the "trolling" has gone away (knock on wood!). We will continue to work on and improve this website, and as always, your comments and feedback are welcome and encouraged!

Hey Kid... What happened to the ability to Edit Your Own Post??? This is a Necessity... IMHO....

We're in the thick of it now! We've got the rough version of the new look up - let me know if you're not seeing it! If you have problems, be sure to refresh the page while holding the SHIFT key on your keyboard, that might help. Also, note that the log in and log out features have moved to the top right corner of the page (like before).

What a surprise! This is beautiful! I can tell the final result will be stunning. Hmm, I don't see an option to edit a comment either! Good find RawNewOrleans.
Also Ray I don't see any way to Reply to other people comments That seems to have gone away as well...
So is there a problem with editing Comments?? or is it just Me?

Thanks for the kind words waterbaby and rawkidchef! We'll put the "edit comments" feature back when we have a chance. It's just a link that's missing. You never could really reply to others comments, it was exactly the same as posting a comment at the bottom of the page, so we just took that link out.
I also love the feature of being able to view others recipe boxes....it's a perfect way to find some more awesome recipes on here. Though I know when the updates were first finished.
I know I keep mentioning this, but the recipes will return on the homepage, right? :)

Namely 'SuperFoods'... I think it would be a great place to discuss a Very Important issue... Like Their Growing, Preparation and Benefits.... Or maybe a Forum Just to address Growing Your Own Foods... Something We ALL May be forced to do sooner or later considering all of the Shenanigans That Big Pharma, The Codex and The FDA are Perpetrating these days....

ok...maybe i am am missing something here...but how do you search recipies?
it use to be you could type in what you were looking for and a list of recipies came up now when i type in
something i am looking for in the search i dont get JUST recipies !
alot of other stuff comes up like comments and threads.
how do i search JUST recpies?
and get JUST recipies back?

Still working on it, everyone. Just a quick update. I'm working on getting the home page back into shape, but it's a challenge. I'm not 100% familiar with our new setup here, so it's taking me some time. I realize that the current layout (as of this moment) has all the appeal of a spreadsheet. This will have to do while I figure out how to get our pretty pictures going. Until then, I hope it's at least a little bit more helpful....

Ray, this rocks! I love it! I see the spreadsheet thing but I know how great it will long when it's finished. Also something weird, the recipes in he highest rated section are changing by the second...weird..

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME? I responded a while ago that my account (username: KAIT) was inaccessible . I cannot remember the password and no longer use the email address associated with it. Unfortunately, my profile for that username has my FULL NAME on it and shows up when someone googles my name. I do not want this and would appreciate it if one of you moderators could email me so we could get that account deleted and/or figure something out (delete my name from the profile at the very least). I know that you are revamping the site (it looks great btw), but I was really hoping to access my recipe box. Am I missing something or is that not on here atm?

The problem with the "highest rated recipes" is interesting. I had written my own little mathematical formula for the site before, which worked much better but was far less efficient. The problem with the current system is that a recipe with a single five star rating will rate better (in average) than a recipe with a hundred five star ratings and one four star rating!!! That's kind of dumb.
In the past, I had weighted the results so that recipes with more ratings had their results "magnified." This clever little trick made it seem more like what you'd expect. You certainly wouldn't expect a recipe with a single positive rating to be the highest rated recipe on Gone Raw!!!
Anyway, long story short, I'm still working on that one. I'm thinking I can still keep the site fast and snappy by just requiring a certain minimum number of ratings before it even shows up in the top ten. Like requiring at least 10 votes or something.
yea that's what I noticed too! I like the ten votes idea. Also wanted to mention that the new holiday recipes on the home page is so awesome! Makes the whole thing attractive.
